Hello People.
My name is Erik.
I've called my demo 'Couldn't Be Further From Me' because it tells you where my music is coming from and it gives it away straight away, I write about what goes on in my life and outside of it, but I tend to write in a way which wouldn't be the way many artists write so people can relate to them coz it's written like it would've happened to anyone, but with a hope that others can relate to it like they've discovered that that's true in themselves and in what goes on around them because I know that what I write about, others can relate to it, but I write it the way I feel and see it or about my life. I'm not suggesting that I'm the only singer/songwriter who writes like I do, infact there are artists I'm influenced by who write the same way, quite personal and self expressed, like Jeff Buckley for instants, but saying that 'Couldn't Be Further From Me' is a title I want to use coz It's away of saying "this is me, this is my music" and it's something unique. I guess you could say it's like watching a comedy stand up when people laugh their heads off at a comedian because he points out something in his day to day life that has happened to him, but at the same time, could of happened to anyone else in the audience, at home or where ever, they relate to it and coz the comedian's job is to make people laugh, he's drawing people in to make them laugh by pointing things out in his life that are so unbelievable and typical that they're are funny, this is what I try but also most importantly like to, only I'm drawing people in with music and lyrics and not necessarily to make them laugh but to give them a sense of ecstacy, excitement, melancholy, justification and many other feelings coz those are the feelings I express in my songs and that are evident in the subjects of my songs. My songs can be very personal but I try to put emphasis on someone else as though it's not necessarily me who's going through what I am writing about, or write about other subjects not always about what I'm going through wether it would be love, hate, injustice, paranoia or what ever it may be coz people might not want to know about you're personal life so much or the same old depressing subjects like relationships falling apart or how madly in love you are with someone, but to hear about something different like a nice place in the world or a car or clothes, different or more positive emotions, different relationships even if it's not about love, just something else that may have possibly never been heard before. I've always been advised by people especially by my dad(also a musician) who knows successful musicians that have told him and heard my music too that it's a good idea altleast if not important to try to concentrate on not always writing about yourself or subjects that are based upon your personal life, but write something different that could catch the listener or use more subject matter to draw the listener in.
Music's my passion, my depression, my happyness, it's my all time love, it's with me always, it never won't be.
Respect to you all.
Thanks. Erik.
